Hey everyone! I'm 22, finishing my second year, and I've been planning a gap year for ages. Just submitted my Australian WHV application and it came back approved in 48 hours — genuinely shocked how easy it was. Flying to Sydney in September. Anyone done the Australia + NZ combo? How much did you save in regional work for the second year?

Did Australia + NZ back to back. Spent 4 months picking blueberries in Vic for my second year extension — brutal but I saved $9k AUD. 100% worth it.

Just a heads up for anyone applying for Canada IEC — the UK pool for Working Holiday goes super fast in January. I got my ITA in round 2 last year but some people waited until July.

Japan WHV is insanely underrated. Niseko ski season (Dec-Apr) pays ¥1,100/hr which sounds low but accommodation is often provided and you spend nothing. I saved £4k in 5 months.

One thing people forget: get your TFN sorted on day one in Australia. I waited two weeks and got taxed at 45% on my first payslip. HMRC-style pain but fixable once you have the number.

Bought a campervan for NZD 5,500 and sold it 11 months later for NZD 5,200. Basically free accommodation for the year. The Facebook group 'Wicked Campers NZ Buy/Sell' is the move.

Thanks everyone — this is exactly the kind of info I needed. Going Australia first, then I'll decide on NZ or Japan depending on savings. Will report back!
