Just got back from a weekend in London on a genuinely tight budget — £185 for two nights excluding flights. The free museum strategy is absolutely real. Spent a full afternoon in the British Museum for free and then grabbed a £4 meal deal from Boots. Planning New York for the fall — anyone have tips on the subway vs getting around? The OMNY daily cap system confuses me.

OMNY is simple — just tap your contactless card or Apple/Google Pay on every subway entry and it automatically applies the daily cap. No need to buy a separate MetroCard anymore. Game changer.

The V&A alone is worth a full day. I've been 6 times. The Cast Courts (giant plaster casts of Michelangelo's David etc) are genuinely breathtaking and completely free.

TodayTix rush is the move for Broadway. Got Hamilton tickets for $45 two weeks ago. Show up for the lottery too — some shows still do live lotteries outside the theatre for $30 tickets.

If you're in NYC you HAVE to eat in Flushing Queens. Took the 7 train, 30 mins from Manhattan, and had the best dan dan noodles of my life for $9. Nothing in Manhattan touches it for that price.

Planning the NYC trip for October — cheaper flights, fewer tourists, and the fall foliage in Central Park. Thanks for all the tips! Will report back with a full budget breakdown.

Borough Market tip: go on a weekday if you can. Saturday it's absolutely mobbed. Wednesday and Thursday the vendors are calmer and more willing to give samples. The cheese stall by the entrance gives out the best free samples.
